Biography
Nikolay Fenersky�s works have appeared in a number of newspapers such as Monitor, Sega, Trud, Sedem, as well as the magazines Savremennik, FreeStyle, Sveta Gora, More, Lik. Among his major literary achievements are the Artforum Newspaper Short Story Award (2000), the Pegas Award for Fiction of Bourgas Municipality (2009), the Second Prize at Yuzhna Prolet Contest (2010) for his first short story collection The Apocalypse is a Private Affair (2009), as well as the Rashko Sugarev Award (2010) for his short story The Woman Who Was Making Cakes (2009). His second book, a collection of short stories entitled Don�t Tell Your Mother, was published by Ergo Publishing in 2012. His novel 1994 was nominated for Novel of the Year in 2015 by “13 Centuries of Bulgaria” National Endownment Fund. And his compilation of short stories “Любов, подслон, храна и вода” (Love, Shelter, Food and Water) was nominated for the European Prize for Literature 2017.
Fenersky has also worked as a scriptwriter and translator from Slovak. He is the author of the short documentary Rezervat Severozapad (2011).
