Biography

Diana Petrova was born in 1978 in the town of Svishtov, Bulgaria. She graduated in book publishing and creative writing from Sofia University. She has written four books, two of which – short story collections. The Castle of the Flies made her a recognized writer for children, whereas The Double Planet explored the fraught subject of adopted children. Her third book, the debut novel Ana, received contradictory reviews in the media because of its provocative character. The featured excerpt entitled “The Computer Programmer” is from her novel Synesthesia, and was first presented in English by the international online literary magazine B O D Y: www.bodyliterature.com.

She has worked as an editor at five children’s magazines: Mickey Mouse, Tom and Jerry, Animal World, Princess and Dumbo. As a freelancer, she has edited a number of books for different publishing houses. Currently, she works at a software company based in Sofia, Bulgaria, and writes stories for a wedding agency, a number of which are available in Bulgarian at her website: podarimiprikazka.com.
